Turn outgrown outfits into memories so the moments stick, even when the clothes move on
Welcome, Prelove Scientists!
Every outfit tells a story—and just because your child has outgrown an old favorite doesn’t mean the memories have to shrink too. This month in the Lab, we’re testing three simple experiments to capture those stories before sending clothes off for their next adventure at Prelove You.
Spoiler alert:
Spoiler: the memories stay, the clothes circulate.
Because every look deserves its moment.
Print them out (instant camera = extra fun).
Let your child decorate the print with doodles, stickers, or captions.
Save in a binder or scrapbook as a “style through the years” album.
“We made a whole scrapbook of my daughter’s preschool outfits. She loves flipping through and laughing at her wild tutu phase.”
— Mia, Parent Scientist
Turning clothes into storytellers.
Luggage tags, index cards, or sticky notes
Pens or markers
Keepsake box, binder, or photo album
Write a memory tied to the piece: ‘This was my first recital dress.’
Invite your child to add their version—through words, doodles, or stickers.
Store the tags in a shoebox or binder, building a growing “closet of stories.”
“My son drew rockets on his sneaker tag because he swears they made him run faster. Best memory saved.”
— Nick, Parent Scientist
Art meets outgrown outfits.
String or twine
Mini clothespins
Photos or drawings of favorite outfits
Print or draw pictures of your child in beloved clothes.
Rotate new memories as your child grows—and their wardrobe evolves.
“We hung our collage over my daughter’s desk. She says it makes her feel like she’s in a fashion museum.”
— Jordan, Parent Scientist
Reminder!
Don’t forget: the memories stay with you, the clothes move on. Send your child’s outgrown pieces into Prelove You to give them a brand-new chapter—while your memory album, tags, and collages keep the stories alive at home. Share your creations @preloveyoukids and you might see your little Lab Scientist featured in our Stories!
