Method:

  1. Cut fabric or paper into fun shapes (hearts! Lightning bolts! Random blobs!)
  2. Glue directly onto the notebook cover to create a collage-style masterpiece
  3. Add washi tape along the edges for extra flair (and durability!)
  4. Optional: Seal with a layer of Mod Podge to protect your creation
  5. Label your subject in bubble letters for bonus points

Parent Lab Report:

We used cut-up birthday cards and old patches—it brought back so many 2nd grade memories!
— Jordan, Parent Scientist

Method:

  1. Decorate the outside of your container with stickers, paint, or washi tape
  2. Line the inside with soft fabric (cut from an old T-shirt or sock!)
  3. Fill with mini supplies and snap it shut for the most satisfying click
  4. Optional: Add your initials with a paint pen so no one “accidentally” takes it

Parent Lab Report:

We used stickers from old birthday cards and lined it with fabric from a ripped hoodie. My kid now calls it their ‘secret agent art kit.’ Mission accomplished.

Method:

  1. Cut your chosen material into long rectangles (bookmark-shaped, obviously)
  2. Decorate as desired: draw, sticker, write dramatic quotes like “Chapter One: Chaos Ensues”
  3. Punch a hole at the top and loop through yarn or ribbon to make a tassel
  4. Optional: Make a batch for the whole class and hand them out like scholastic valentines

Parent Lab Report:

My daughter used one of her old watercolor paintings to make bookmarks for her friends. Now I have to frame the leftovers because they’re that good.
